Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2026

1. Introduction

CarVetter (“we,” “us,” or “our”), operated by StudioB Apps LLC, is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

2. Information We Collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your email address. If you sign in with Google or Facebook, we receive your email address from those services.

Vehicle check data

When you check a car, we collect the vehicle details you provide: year, make, model, trim, mileage, price, and title status. This data is used to generate your report and is stored in your account history.

Payment information

We use Stripe to process payments. We do not store your payment card details. We retain records of purchases (amount, date, reports granted) for accounting purposes.

Usage data

We collect standard web analytics data including pages visited, browser type, and general location (country/region). We also use Microsoft Clarity to record anonymized session interactions (clicks, scrolling, navigation) and generate aggregate heatmaps, which helps us identify usability issues. Clarity automatically masks all form inputs and sensitive content. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.

We do not collect precise geolocation data. Location data is limited to general country or region, derived from standard web server logs.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide the CarVetter service and generate reports
  • To manage your account and report balance
  • To process payments and maintain purchase records
  • To send you report links and account notifications by email
  • To improve the accuracy and quality of our reports
  • To comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.

Our reports are generated through automated processing using artificial intelligence. These reports do not constitute legal effects or significant decisions — such as credit determinations, insurance eligibility, or employment decisions — as defined by applicable privacy regulations. Reports are informational tools to assist with personal purchasing decisions.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Clerk — handles authentication and stores your email address and session data. See Clerk's Privacy Policy.
  • Stripe — processes payments. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
  • OpenAI — generates report content from vehicle data you provide. We use OpenAI's API platform; your vehicle data is transmitted securely, and per OpenAI's API usage policies, data sent via the API is not used to train their models. See OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
  • Resend — delivers transactional emails, including your report notification emails. Your email address is transmitted to Resend solely for the purpose of sending emails you have requested. See Resend's Privacy Policy.
  • Microsoft Clarity — provides session analytics and heatmaps. Clarity records anonymized interaction data (clicks, scrolling, navigation patterns) and automatically masks form inputs and sensitive content. We use this data only to diagnose usability issues. See Microsoft's Privacy Statement.
  • NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) — we query the NHTSA public API to retrieve safety recall records for vehicles you check. Vehicle make, model, and year are sent to this U.S. government API. No personal information is transmitted. NHTSA's privacy policy is available at nhtsa.gov.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data and report history for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or accounting purposes (such as payment records).

6. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain your login session and remember your preferences. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.

7. Your Rights

StudioB Apps LLC provides the following rights to all CarVetter users, regardless of your location:

  • Access and receive a portable copy of your personal data
  • Correct inaccuracies in your account information
  • Request deletion of your account and associated report history
  • Object to or restrict certain types of processing
  • Opt out of any future sale of your personal data (note: we do not currently sell personal data)

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@carvetter.com. We will respond within 30 days.

For users in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Children's Privacy

CarVetter is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
